The Weekly Dose 03-11-14 (featuring Tears For Fears)

Featured Artist Of The Week: Tears For Fears

This week’s featured artist is not only one of my all-time favorite artists, they are also still going strong, with a new album coming later this year.  When most people think of Tears For Fears, they probably think of the 1980’s, when they had many radio hits including “Shout”, “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”, “Mad World” …. but what a lot of people don’t realize is that the band has stayed fairly active over the years, releasing albums through the 90’s and 2000’s.  Late last year, they even started releasing cover songs of current indie artists (Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, and Hot Chip so far).

The Weekly Dose 03-11-14

This week’s playlist includes two songs from Tears For Fears.  The first is “Call Me Mellow” from their excellent 2004 CD Everybody Loves A Happy Ending, and then one of my (and hopefully your) favorite Tears For Fears tracks, “Sowing The Seeds Of Love”.   One other highlight is a classic song by Ian Dury & The Blockheads, followed by “Claire”, a song by his son Baxter.  In addition, one from Whiskeytown (Ryan Adams’ original band). Hope you enjoy this week’s songs!
